Nuts and Gum Tour '08 Vol. 1

Here's a little video ditty featuring the beginning of our uber successful Nuts and Gum Tour (together at last!). If you go to the end, you'll see a fabulous yaz flute solo by Zac.
Thanks to all the great people who came out and friended us, and an extra hug to those who let us crash.
Also a special thanks to Brent and his fam in St. Louis for lending us your house for the weekend (sorry about the DVD player).

The Great White North and Morning Warmups

Every once in a while we find ourselves driving through a snow ocean in mid February!


After this snow storm, we stayed with Uncle Doug and Kristen and feasted on his big potato balls. We played with a very cool Minneapolis band called Bukkake Dance Party (it's a temporary name I'm told).
From there we went up to Marquette, MI for the second time. Unfortunately, the only souvenir we have from Marquette is this snowflake:


We arrived at St.Louis, MO. Dave, Zac and Kellen danced with joy.




The silver arch, Jefferson national expansion memorial was shinning in the blue sky.We went up to the top riding a small capsule and glanced the beautiful land scape.

In the Beginning

In the Beginning, there was nothing.

Then there were Nuts. 

Nuts were all right for a while, but there was something missing. .. Some kind of need for balance was making itself felt.

Then there was Gum. 

Jupiter One looked at it's creation and saw that it was good and that it should spread the word as far as their van - Silver Blaze - would carry them. From within the veritable Garden of Eden that is NYC the first stop, after much deliberation, was chosen. Here is Dave singing one of the greatest staples of the 80's:

(Jupiter One's first test was a Flood of Biblical Proportions. Level 3 State of emergency. K risked his life to take some pictures of this awesome spectacle. It was very beautiful to see all those trees standing in the caramel-colored water lazily moving under the menacing downpour, and these beautiful sights were made especially for Jupiter One to see at the start of their journey. Jupiter One is often reminded of the power of nature since it seems like we can't catch a break, as far as weather, as our fans who've come out to see us in the rain or supernatural cold can attest.) 

Cleveland turned out to be a great choice. Great crowd. Learned a lot about them too! Personal stuff.

Niki is the angel of Bowling Green, Ohio. She has a wolf living in the house. It's street legal. 

Dave asked. He also made it sing. You know how you can make wolves sing? That's what he did.

We have video footage. But we also have video footage of everything. What would you like to see? Let us know. K drunk is one of my favs.

K was hilariously drunk in Kentucky. We had a day off after an EKU gig. Then we went bowling. We all won. But not before working on new music in the hotel room with K's mini amp and a band sandwich (human sandwich - on top of the tv stand). Can you guess the order of stacking? Mocha was on top of course.

[New Music Sidenote!] - We have lots... next time you come see us you'll hear it. 

Pittsburgh was a f*ck$ng blast, people. So many noisy people (who are our favorite kind of people) and lots of lyric sing-alongs which really helps K remember the words. K wore his new "Sting onesey" as Dave calls it, which is really a green jumpsuit that K is nekkid underneath so we can see his sexy brown chest above the zipper. All glistening.

Dave and I were quite drunk and dancing around the rest of the night, generally causing a scene.

We met some very sweet respectable girls who respectfully said goodnight pretty soon after Dave started stumbling around with me on his shoulders somehow also stumbling, in midair.

Enough.

Awake! Beautiful Pittsburgh house of the lovely and talented Scott and Sarah Peterson. 

Voices downstairs. 

I smell food. Lots of food. 

"Sure! thanks" now I'm holding a bloody mary.

Life's great in this house. So many new friends in such a short, pleasant time. 

And so we're back out on the road. It's windy. K struggles to keep the car straight. That's what's really happening, but in my head he's messing with me, doing it on purpose. The sky looks like some Lord of the Rings sh*t. The trees are bare and dead-looking on the hills above the strip malls. There's no time of day. I see the sun behind the clouds, but the clouds are in purgatory. They don't have anywhere to be, and they're all pretending they don't have anything in common. They're on Bedford Ave.

And so Jupiter One was tested once again- "GO TO THE POISON ROOM! IN THE HI LAND OF OH. SIN SIN ATTIC!", they though they heard in garbled shouting from those clouds that seemed not to be paying them any attention just a few moments before.

"Platform Moon" in a new Mazda6 TV commercial

In case you haven't heard, Jupiter One's song "Platform Moon" has been featured in a european Mazda tv campaign for the new Mazda6. From what we know, the Mazda ad or advert (as it`s being called over there) has been airing in the UK, Ireland, Russia, and Isreal so far. If you've seen it, then let us know!

We're not going to Yellowstone National Park. Turns out they put it in some ridiculously out-of-the-way place. Maybe that's why it's such a big deal. Cause, who do you know that's even been there? That's what I thought.

Wow there's crazy mist in the mountains here in Washington. Wonder what state we'll pass through next on our journey back to beautiful New York City... Do you think it'll have WATERFALLS? Like THIS?

By the way, I was asked to be on a panel of judges in a college battle of the bands. They asked me to be mean, like the guy on the karaoke TV show on Fox. I said No. The bands were good though. Very young. I felt old. And embarrassed, since I'm sure I don't have the authority to judge other bands.

Pacific NorthWHAT!!!

Let me catch y'all up on what J1 has been doing lately. First, pull out your copies of the new Chromeo and Datarock albums, cause you're gonna want to hear that while I tell this. It's what we hear in the van.
We drove across the country. ALLL the way across, people. No kidding. New York to LA Bitch. (That's what we learned there in LA: you say "bitch" after whatever it is you said, bitch.)
The scenery was indescribable, so I won't. If you've done it then you know.
We played an awesome show at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles (that's spanish for The Angeles). Thanks for everyone coming and making it an unforgettable first west coast show.
On and on we drove playing shows. A NACA conference in Spokane, a show in portland. In between there was a gig in Seattle at Skylark. Very cool bands there that we played with. Thanks Denelian and Wimbleweather for kicking ass and making us feel like part of a special community. Then we HAD to find sushi. We did. Rude hostess. Cool waitress. You know the deal.
Ok here's the best part: There Are Tunnels Underneath The City Of Portland Where They Used To Take People and Sell Them To Ship Captains!!!! It was called Shanhaing and at it's peak 3000 men a year disappeared between 1850 and 1941. We took a rad tour given by the SAME GUY Kellen saw on the History Channel. Sweet! There were definitely ghosts around. As I sit and type we are approaching Spokane once again to play at Gonzaga University... I think we were asked to judge a battle of the bands or something... um... before we play... I decide now - Everybody Wins!!! This will be our last show before we start the long drive back home... however, I think we may stop at Yellowstone, so I'll have the sure-to-be-bursting-with-excitement Dave Heilman write one more post about that :)

Remember that Girl`s Gone Wild type film crew that showed up at our Mercury Lounge show?

Here`s the interview with some live footage.

WHAT HAS 39 FINGERS AND STALKS THE STREETS OF CINCINNATI??

Shortly after writing that last post, I stepped away from the hotel desk to find Zac jumping on the bed. His sudden burst of energy inspired me to grab his legs and engage him in the manliest of gladiator-like sports.....a "Tickle Fight." What I didn't know was that this act would send Zac into a state of regression, conjuring up childhood fears and past memories of tickle tragedies. The expression on his face changed to a vacuous, yet insane forest creature preparing for berserk mode.

Something like this:




In a blaze of tickle fury I had my right index finger kicked in and yanked while still grasping his jeans.....resulting in an injury called, "Jersey Finger." How amazing is that?!?!?! Apparently it happens to football players a lot....From this Howard's Club show till the end of the tour I was forced to play with 9 fingers AND in a drunken haze. Most people know that's usually not my move, but in order to bear the pain....drinks were extremely necessary. I apologize to everyone who met me beyond October 1st.....

Cookies help me feel better the next day.




The Bowling Green show was fun, despite the digit loss, and we played with some great guys who hung with us in Toledo the following night. (Nathan, Dave, Iron Mailen, and The Belles). We ate some tacos with Brock , Molly, and Linda, played with Earwig, then headed to Michigan the next morning. A SUPER long drive to the Upper Peninsula (practically Canada) but great views along the way. WE stopped at some giant lakes and tree-filled mountain ranges for frisbee drills.



No better place to be in the Fall than Michigan.



We got to Marquette and played UPFRONT & Co. for 2 nights. This place had a nice big stage, a great staff (Kendra, Kate, Stacey, Amanda, Lee, Seth), and the greatest crowds yet. They came to party....so did we. We spent a day there playing frisbee on the fringe of Lake Superior and walked half a mile along a rock jetty straight into the lake. We got to the end and climbed up a pedestal to a small lighthouse. There was a sign bolted on it that read: "KEEP 50 FEET AWAY WHEN ALARM SOUNDS." What good is that sign when you're 2 inches away?!?!?! You couldn't put that sign up BEFORE we climbed a ladder and are suddenly at risk of becoming deaf?!?!?! We fancied it a clever government practical joke...(as we bolted out of there).

Next stop was Cincinnati. Along the way K discovered a never-before-heard-of snack, "Beef Jerky Chew." Makes sense. I mean Hey, we ALL love Chewing Tobacco and we all love Beef Jerky....it was only a matter of time!





When we got Cincinnati our manager, Ryan, was waiting for us...excited as ever to join the tour. He just couldn't wait to share small hotel rooms and sleep with another guy in his bed....finally!




We got to The Poison Room, did a sound check with Tom, and walked around Main street meeting the natives. We spent hours leading a fruitless search for the studio of WKRP, but got to meet some interesting people. We found 2 daughters and their Mom changing clothes for "Adventure Day," a couple of nice girls headed to bars and some other baby-boomers headed to a Kid Rock concert? Really??!! Nice meeting you Leah, Sarah, Jill, Janie, Donna, Chelsea...hope to see you next time.
Wendy hooked us up at the bar, poor Mart and Anna got their car towed (hope that worked out buddy!), and Stacey, Matt, and Phil were hanging all night. Wendy did SUCH a good job that Zac and I re-enacted the "Jake E Lee Shreds" clip from YouTube. I supplied all of Ozzie's ridiculous hand claps while Zac "melted faces." If you haven't seen this yet, go check it out...high comedy.
Thanks to Halos Were Seen Landing There for playing some great music that night.

Our last and final show of the tour was in CLEVELAND! On the way to the club poor Brewy got busted by THE MAN! Speeding ticket for Jupiter One :(



Larry, Johnnie, and Cesar helped us close the tour out at Peabody's....the night started of with a great band called Run, Run, Addington and the small army of Madison East took the stage next. We got to play a really fun show (with the help of all their girlfriends) and Zac was so excited he gave K a swift headbutt during Platform Moon...K retaliated with a chest blow....I was hoping for an all out BRAWL, but the music just kept on going. One injured member is enough for now I suppose.......we're coming back home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BRING THE ILLINOISE

We rolled into town around 2 am. Although we were disappointed that we missed Robot Chicken, we managed to find plenty of entertainment through the ridiculous accent provided by Kate Beckinsale in "Van Helsing." After an hour of that we passed out and drove another 3 hours to Davenport, Iowa the next morning.

We recorded some of Mocha's keyboards into a sampler (she's in Japan for a couple days) and then left to play RIBCO in Rock Island. A good place for music and a great place to get drunk (giving the band a case). My family came out from MN to hang with us and Minus 6 closed down the place. Apparently they have a sax player in the band, Matt, who could be my body double. (He's 6'2" so he's actually more of a head double). K and Ben both mistook him for me about 6 times that night.


I met a local who taught me about the "Angry Pirate" after I educated him on the process of a "Tony Danza." We also got to hang with the infamous Jimmy Vaughn.....

The next night was in Bloomington, Normal, IL. Downtown baby! NV Ultra Lounge had a great bartender (thanks Dan!) and Harry was on point. Not many townies around, but Audrey and Sam were in it for the long haul...when that placed closed down we ran up to "Levi's" for some spontaneous music making, also known as "pickin'" by the Auburn natives. These guys have an apartment across the street filled with instruments and beer that is ALWAYS open. Apparently anyone can just walk in and start playing.....so we did.

Today we drove through Indianna, picked up the latest Shins, VHS or BETA, and Otis Redding for the van, and now we're gonna play Howard's Club in Ohio......

The Auburn Rooster and The Red Stick

We showed up to Roosters in Auburn, AL Wednesday night......Web showed us around, Maurice cooked us some food, Jody made some drinks, and we played some pool. They also have that quarter game where a MILLION quarters are just sitting at the end of this ledge waiting to be pushed off. You put in a quarter of your own and hope that it winds up pushing one quarter into another, eventually off the ledge. Somehow this stupid little game will make ANYBODY an addicted gambler! I don't understand it.....the most you might win on a given try is MAYBE 75 cents, but somehow you just HAVE to win it....you can't quit cuz it's always just SOOOOOO close. I'm ashamed.

Ben and his crew were at the show telling us all about Fred's Pickin' Parlor (a barn attic hay loft where people come to "jam" on thursday nights)....maybe next time guys! We also realized we left all our shirts and cds at The Nick in Birmingham :( We had to wake up early, drive 3 hours, and grab them out of the sound guy's pick-up truck the next morning. About 6 hours later we rolled up to Baton Rouge, LA. Po' Boys and Hush Puppies!!

The Click's was a a good club with plenty of pool tables, darts, and Air Hockey.....yup. Air Hockey.

Holly, Kayla, and Patrick were taking care of us at the bar and Adele, Fridge, Leah, and Greg were Reppin' hard (thanks for driving an hour to get there Greg!) Now we're getting back into the van for a solid 12 hours.........will most likely involve another panel discussion on the morality of Odysseus (justice or revenge) and the origins/relevance of "Archetypes."

We're either bored or nerds...you decide.

Discovering our Birmingham Fan Base (Adam)

So we left Orlando after a night at the Social, a place we'll definitely revisit. Had a good time with Buffalo Gun, No Circus, and The Wildbirds (who are single handedly saving the planet with their vegetable oil powered tour bus). It' s good 'ol Southern Eco-Rock. Orlando is weird cuz it has a large homeless population (just like NYC), but they're all wearing ripped and faded Mickey Mouse T-Shirts. Just kinda throws yer senses of nostalgia and destitution all together in one. Anyway, thanks to Dave, Patty, Jesse, Amanda, Sarah, and Jules for coming out!

Our drive to Statesboro, GA the next morning proved to be fruitless when we got word the show was cancelled :( We were looking forward to playing with The Finals and Baumer again, but instead we had to entertain ourselves at a roach infested Ho Jo's with a huge Jacuzzi????


We had all our bags stacked on top of any raised surface we could find...We discovered Brewy has a knack for acting (most notably the role of Southern Indignantary) so we recorded some short films at the SONIC across the street. He came out with an Emmy-Award Winning performance in our film "Midnight or Later," but due to inappropriate content we're unable to give you a preview at this time. K happens to be deathly afraid of cockroaches so the poor guy slept with all his clothes on and one eye open.

The scent of choice at this particular spot happened to be "Slice of Mildew," so we stopped by the local K-mart for a candle, a new Frisbee, a phone charger and pair of shoes for Zac (a handsome pair of Anchor Bay's). Next stop was the lighted field on the Georgia University Campus for some action with the new disc. The field was covered with students running drills so we were confined to the side by side basketball courts. We came up with some new catches/tosses including the Spectator, The Georgian Terrace, The Harlem Globetrotter, and the action play Body in Motion Stays in Motion.
We also met our new friends Ashley and Kayla at the local Daylight Donuts.



Our drive the next day was to Birmingham, AL. "The Knights Inn" proved to be less inhabited by roaches, however, the pool was murky with MANY a wrapped/unwrapped candy bar floating around, a toilet we had to flush with a hanger, a smell of burning plastic, and shady locals playing their own variation of Deal, or No Deal.

We stopped for dinner at The Garage Cafe, taunted a sculpture of Poseidon, and headed to our show at The Nick. Danny did a great job on sound, Brian kept the PBR's flowing all night, we played some pool, and then rocked it for our Birmingham Fan Base, Adam. The Nick is a great hang and we'll be coming back for sure.

The Birth of Beefo Brady

We played Buddha again with a really great band (Cinder) and then headed back to the hotel. We were scheduled to play some random place called K&K Concert Hall in Ocala Saturday night so we left for Kissimmee that morning.



After some Perkins and a couple of beef jerky pit stops we stumbled upon an old tavern by the name of "Beef O'Brady's." This giant sign seemed too good a name to just pass by only to be forgotten moments later. We decided to let the name live on by assigning it to a member of the band. It was a no-brainer that the prestigious title should be awarded to K. Two reasons: One- Ben already has a nickname, Brewy Brewerton, which he picked up on our Canadian Tour. Two- K has been obsessed with trying Taco Bell's new "Cheesey Beefy." So much so, that he even bought a round of Cheesey Beefys for the whole van in a state of happy delirium. From here on in, K's "spirit name" shall be Beefo Brady.

When we got to the next hotel, we immediately began running some more Frisbee drills. Ben stumbled upon a new catch called "The Thriller" and we got to document Zac on video demonstrating the aforementioned, "When You're a Jet, Your're a Jet."



Our excersises for the day came to a sudden halt when Beefo threw the flying disc of joy over the barbed wire fence :( We're still looking for a replacement. Why are the Howard Johnson's in Florida enclosed with barbed wire fence?? We don't know. But I mean let's think about this. Howard Johnson's.....Barbed Wire Fence. Howard Johnson's....and a perimeter of Barbed F-ing WIRE?!?!?! REALLY????


We swam in the pool a bit...played one of Zac's classic pool games called "Shark Attack"....then headed out for the show. Ocala is about one hour away from the hotel, so when we pulled up to the "venue" at midnight, found it hiding behind "Shucker's Oyster Bar," and heard things were running 3 hours behind.....we got right back in the van and drove the hour back. SORRY OCALA!!!!! We'll have to make up for it next time :)

Brewy and Zac got a couple drinks for the hotel room, Beefo and Mocha started recording some synth lines into the new sampler, and I chased an armadillo around the parking lot. (Florida Ho Jo's. Barbed wire and armadillos)

Day 8

So we left off with the band in a South Carolina hotel room....that ended up with a few UFC challenges in which K ended up the victor. Zac and I turned out a "draw," although I walked away with a SEVERE rugburn (thanks to Zac's dirty fighting and the influence of Wild Irish Rose). The only fighting combo that did not come to pass was that of Ben vs. K. We felt that the weight class vs. capoeira training would prove to be too dangerous a fight, and possibly jeopardize band moral.

The show that night at New Brookland Tavern was a special one. The very first time we EVER played a touring show where ALL the bands sounded great and made sense together. We played with SHAPIRO, TODAY THE MOON, TOMORROW THE SUN, and BAUMER. A great night of music filled with good people...we got to hang with Randy, Katie and Bethany....Sarah and jessica at the coffee house next door...and the bartenders kept everyone happy all night. After we watched BAUMER give it all they had, even Josh rocked through some sickness, we jumped in the van and headed for Savannah,GA. Don't remember much of that other than blasting some Pinback then passing out. We drove past some houses and then got on the road for Ft. Myers.

While driving the 8 hours we listened to ELO, the Kooks, Bee-Gees, James Brown, Shuggie Otis, and we made some pit stops. One that comes to mind is a gas station with a big parking lot. Ben, Zac, and I got out to work up some more Frisbee manuevers when the attendant came out from the Kwik-Mart and called us "punks." Seriously?? Really??! For throwing a neon green frisbee... we're punks???? Wow. We did, however, give birth to some great new catches: The Proud Soldier, Lady Liberty, Dr. Phil, The Allstate, and my personal new favorite, Zac's very own "When You're a Jet, You're a Jet."

We rolled up to the Club, BUDDHA BAR, in Ft. Myers and thought, 'This is a bar. We're in the south.' An old friend of mine happened to be in the area and asked me, "So. How do you think your brand of synth-pop will be received here in Ft. Myers?" I didn't have an optimistic response. But we were mistaken.....the best crowd we've seen yet! 'Jersey' Kim, Felix, and Mike were keeping the front of the stage "lively" ;) , Steve Farst and Wonderful Johnson opened up the night and hung with us afterwards, the bartenders (Connie, Lee, Iris, and Jocelyn) kept the spirits flowing. They asked us back tonight (we originally had the night off) so we're looking forward to playing again......

ATL Baby!

HOTLANTA GEORGIA

So we played our first show in Atlanta GA and met a really great band called QUIET COMPANY...they rocked, told us all about the "Luftkin", and didn;t kick me off the stage when I jumped on with a tambourine. Mike and Meghan showed up and are coming along for the next couple shows to sell Merch...


We ate some Southern cooking at Mathew's in Tucker, stopped by Galaxy for some strings, then headed for STONE MOUNTAIN. We walked up to the top while practicing our Frisbee Playbook. We have some great offensive maneuvers called The Mount Brolympus, The River Runs Fastest in the Center, The Steal From the Rich, Give to the Poor (Robin Hood), and our most effective play The Tempest (seen below)


I'm not sure most of the locals were used to seeing a shiny blue speedo, but by the end of the day...they were broken in.


We rolled up to Columbia, SC around midnight blasting Yes's 'Heart of the Sunrise'...stopped by a Lil Cricket for some drinks, which included a "Wild Irish Rose," and met a local named Drew. Upon inquiring to Drew about the quality of "Wild Irish Rose" I was informed that "It's Wino-Swill, but it'll get the job done." He was buying a Yoo-Hoo and some Rolaids. Right now we're at room 102 of the "Shining Pineapple MASTER's INN" getting ridiculous on said Swill...talk soon x

DAY 4 of THE TOUR

Good Bye VA!

IOTA is always a J-1 Favorite and this past show was no exception...Dave was holding down the bar, Mike was working the door and Meaghan filled us in on the best burger joint VA has to offer...5 GUYS. A few other honorable mentions go out to "Suzy" for the dance, and Suki for "supporting the arts" :)

We left the next morning for Miller's in Charlottesville....THE smallest stage ever, but we just considered it intimate... Jayon and Jay-Jay hooked us up (along with the rest of the Ex-Starhill crew)...thanks for the beers guys!!!! Sorry we missed you at the corner Rosie and Jesse :( Zac was inspired by the crowd and played some drums...smacked the "hard 4", Ben on guitar, me on keys, .....paying homage to the great PRINCE (a.k.a. The Artist Formerly Known As God)


Today we checked into America's Best Value Inn, played a new style of Frisbee (stand as close as possible and throw the frisbee as hard as you can....Zac's arm took some shots and I have a giant, horizontal welt on my lower abdomen). After trying to figure out what a "Bojangles" is, we went to BLEND, our first North Carolina venue in Chapel Hill. The ONLY thing I can say about tonight's show is, Thank Heavens for Jenny and John....REPRESENTING!

going to bed now.... (we have an important meeting at Waffle House in the morning)...... then headed to Atlanta!

Jupiter One on tour

and so it begins...

Our first night of this 3 week run was spent at the Jewish Mother in VA beach. Despite it's awkward name, this place had a cool sound guy, waiters that knew how to "do the corpse" during our Thriller interlude, and a crew of Japanese students rockin the stage in front. Employee of the month, My Violet, was there with some friends...bobby Amped with a shirt ready to become our canvas....Steve and the rest of I'm Turning hung till they got kicked out.

K, amidst a mid-Countdown freak out, was blinded by the stage light and somehow wound up with his back on top of the monitors...out first Battle Wound! (just some minor cuts on the elbow) The Ishibahi's hooked us up with rice balls, foot and back masages, and a piano with which Zac and Ben amused themselves via Interpertive dance (a la Reggae-ton Pink Floyd).

As usual Ben is driving the van like a champ..me and Zac are DJ's...and K and Mocha are trying to "not get in the way."

We're stealing wireless right now from the ever-generous and best club EVER, IOTA in Arlington, VA.,,can;t wait to play here in an hour....we LOVE this place!!!

time machine/cd release party!!!!

i was thinking about our overwhelmingly successful cd release show. it was late last night. i was thinking about a few other things too as i surfed the web. and inbetween those things i was thinking about my time machine.
not thinking about actually building/buying one, but, before i can indulge in a fantasy i have to know that it's going to be plausible.

two reasons: think about this: young versions of stevie nicks and chaka khan.

now, i know what you're thinking:" how would you get to meet these two godesses even if you did successfully time travel?" instead of answering that, i'm going to invite the folks who were at the cd release party to leave comments on this post and whoever leaves the meanest one gets a really hard bite on the neck or arm by me, zac.

thanks for coming to the party at the mercury everyone, it was really fun and as you know, a party is only as cool as its constituents. can't wait to see y'all again soon and please say prayers for us and more importantly wish us luck (by buying our cd!) while we drive around the country

next time we see you we'll have lots more songs for you to enjoy which means that k and i will have engaged in fistfights and hair-pulling

Jupiter One in Madden '08

It's official! Our song "Countdown" is 1 of 29 tracks slated to be on the EA Sports' John Madden 2008! Apparently last year's Madden sold close to 10 million copies... we're just hoping that a few of the same people will make the effort the vacate the couch and come check us out. We're very excited to be alongside mainstream bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Ozzy Ozborne, and The Bravery...

"Mystery Man" on our Myspace and Optigan

Go to our myspace page and you will find our new album cut version of the song "Mystery Man". If you're wondering how we managed to hire a full orchestra with our limited budget, the strings you hear in the beginning are from a rare instrument made by Mattel in the late 70's called the Optigan. It looks like a pump organ but it actually has 12-inch discs inside. There's buttons on the side that play loops in many of the popular keys of the time. It's kind of like a poor man's mellotron. It's very noisy, and if you put your headphones on, you can hear the clicks of the buttons (unavoidable). It drove the our mix engineer Nic crazy!

Countdown will air on NYC's Q104.3!

Hello drivers and vacationers. Our song "Countdown" will get our first commercial radio play on NYC's awesome classic rock station Q104.3! If you're coming back from Montauk or the shore, then you have to tune in at 9pm to FM104.3. The show is called "Out of the Box" and features local and up and coming bands.

Jupiter One concludes national radio campaign!

So we've concluded a very succesful college radio awareness campaign through the hard working folks at Planetary Group in Boston. We basically mailed out 30lbs of singles and this is what we've reaped:

Our song "Countdown" has been chosen for the very new and trendy Slide.com. This is a site that allows you to create a slideshow of all your favorite pictures from around the web. They allow the user to chose one of ten songs to be the soundtrack tot he slideshow, one of which is "Countdown". Normally, I'm not a fan of this kind of forced music, but in this case, HELL Yeah!

Mercury Lounge!

Here is a truly awesome photo set of our Mercury Lounge show by our good friend Brad Gilley and drummer extrordinaire from Austin, TX. It's funny how k looks constipated in all the photos. Remember the glitter? K did. He drank a whole glassfull of it and saw it again on its way out the next day.
In case you're wondering, the camera crew was from a University TV network that'll put clips of the show into many pizza encrusted and redbull saturated dorm rooms across the country. Thanks everyone for coming and making the night a sweaty one!

Here we are, being goofy in a convenient photo booth they had IN the actual place we played in Beantown. Revolution Rock Bar they called it. Had pictures of Hendrix all over.
