Surprise B-day Party!

My amazing family threw me a surprise party at my sister Susan's house the next day. Pat's feeling a little confused cuz it was technically HIS b-day about 12 hours ago....

My friend's kids call me "Uncle Sunshine" so they thought this beverage appropriate:

K and Mocha came with us in the blaze and brought their daughter Sola! She's so funny right now cuz she'll just say anything you tell her to....her phrase of choice for that night was "How y'all doin?"

After a couple child-size beer funnels we gave her a go at the pinata....


When she proved too dizzy to succeed, Zac stepped in....

Bingo. Skittles and condoms!!!

Sola headed straight for the bright blues...


I was later assaulted by Pat and his minions for "birthday spankings"


After 3 hours of the Uncle Moonshine, Zac and Pat decided to portray the 4 seasons through "eye expression." Here they are in respective order starting with Fall....

We played the thingy...the asshole soundguy cut our monitors off for playing too long....but it's our birthday, so we won't cause a scene. We'll just get in the van....I'll put on a horse head....and let Zac smack me around a bit.

Off to NYC!!! It's 6pm and we got a show at the Delancey in 5 hours....we're wired up. and trapped.


I don't remember how or why, but somehow K deserved it....


It's 9pm. Checking hudson river crossing reports....double screening with my brand spankin' new iTouch

okay. so. My birthday is October 23rd and Pat's is October 24th. We began the weekend with drinks at BLUE & GOLD on 7th st. and First Ave. Team Bushwick was there.....(Stacy, Jeff Taylor, Zimmer, and Pat)

So was Your Vegas....(Mat Steel----Mark showed up later)

Pat got a voucher for 76 boxes of CHEEZ-ITs...

All I got was this Britney Spears hat...

Actually my friends all pitched in and got me a super rad iTouch. It's gonna take me a month to figure out all the sh@t it can do, but it's awesome :) They thought I could use another "Screen" to put in front of my face.
When BLUE & GOLD closed we walked around the corner to Tile Bar. Pat's friend Matt was there to win the award for most random gift. An ALOE branch....

The bartender, Mary, was super cool for letting us hang all night until Zimmer came around with the van at 4am....

We tried to sleep while Aaron drove the 4 hours straight to Lancaster, PA. We had an 8am soundcheck for a NACA Showcase so that gave us a couple hours to sober up. That didn't work out....

When we registered our names they made a Typo on PAT's ....he had to wear that all day. awesome.

After playing LOUD at 8am we all nursed our hangovers at the free continental breakfast...yay! Then we needed sleep. Our booking agent let us use his hotel room till the show at 5pm......

It's 10 am. Time for bed.

We've been coming to Charlotte a few times this year and the Kosters have ALWAYS been a hugely supportive family. Don, Laurie, Dana, Chris, and Judy make up what's called "The Rock 'N' Roll Hotel." It's saved in Georgine (our GPS) and it's the first place we go when passing through the Carolinas. We rolled in and found an extravagantly dressed dinner table. Laurie wanted to try "something different" this time so she and Don made a romantic, candle lit dinner. Complete with wine :)




Don always waits for us on the front porch....it's cute.

After dinner we relaxed a little bit...we had NO idea what was about to happen....


Johnny showed up to the Muse with his whole posse and made the room feel like Madison Square Garden. Too bad we ain't got pics from that night, but there was lots of great people to hang with and we took the party to Sanctuary after the show. Don turned me on to my new favorite drink "Firefly." It's sweet tea vodka and I love it. Only drag is we don't have it up north!!!! :(

The Stephanies and Sarah came back to the Hotel with us after the show and we got so loud that Dana kicked us out. We had to hang in the FREEZING backyard....but there was plenty of cookies and burritos to keep us warm. Don also loaned me a sweater and super steel toe boot-kickin, redneck camo NASCAR hat. I looked amazing. Eventually we went to bed and grabbed a plate full of muffins in the morning. Thanks Judy!

What can we say about IOTA that we haven't said already?? We love it. It was good to see Dave behind the bar again. It's been awhile since he's worked a J-1 show and even longer since his wife Meghan's made it out....we miss you! But Lis was the there with a new haircut and took some pics.
