CUTS, SCRAPES, AND SCRATCHES TOUR

St. Paul, MN (Day off for SilverBlaze Repair)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We woke up to a phone call from my Uncle. it was the alternator and it's fixed. We were supposed to be in Indianapolis (10 hours away) so we had to cancel. We all ran around Casey Lake Park and the State Trail. Passed by a giant SNowman and a parade as evidenced by all the tiny flags and tootsie rolls on the street. We did some laundry so I wore my cousin's clothes to the grocery store. He's a 17 year-old musician so I grabbed his SUPER skinny black jeans, black Cons, and black "Killing For My Valentine" t-shirt. Somehow we missed the photo op, but you can imagine.....
My Uncle Doug and Aunt Kristen prepared a feast on the grill and we drank the case of PBR Me and My Arrow bequeathed us from the show.
We also got to hear Evan's band, Open Arrow Black, rehearse at the house....they SHRED!
Later that night we watched Kings Of Leon on SNL and fell asleep with images of the Cougar Den dancing in our heads....
CUTS, SCRAPES, AND SCRATCHES TOUR
Minneapolis, MN (Uptown Bar) "Death Of The SilverBlaze"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Off to Minnnesota!

We saw some great scenery and some great mullets too....

At some point in the drive Zac said, "Hey guys. Our battery light is on. What does that mean?"

To which K replied, "It means the battery is not able to properly recharge itself."

"How much longer is the drive?" I asked.

"4 hours," replied Zac.

"Ah."

Pat tried calling any open Firestones along the way.....no luck

We made it all the way to my Uncle's house in St. Paul. He confirmed Pat's hypothesis that the alternator is busted and my cousin declared, "Our van will break down very soon." So we hurried back in and drove straight to the club. The battery power had been drained so much that we had NO odometers working of any kind and the headlights were just a faint glimmer of hope. But we made it!!!!

We'd been looking forward to this show for a long time cuz our friends Me and My Arrow were playing. Economy Team and Military Special also sounded great.....we made some new friends like Heather and Chrisitna....my Aunt Kristen and Uncle Doug came out, so did our favorite bartenders Mary and Jason, Nick from These Modern Socks, and Ami and Crystal too.

We had some pre-show Jimmy John's (#6) and hung out till 3 am waiting for a tow truck. We were all pretty blasted (thanks Brian) and I had the hiccups. Unfortunately, the tow truck guy said our van was too heavy for him so he just jumped the battery.....I looked on.....with hiccups...

(video coming soon)

The battery lasted all of 4 minutes till we got back on the freeway and the Blaze just stopped. We kinda just slept on the freeway till a bigger tow truck showed up at 5am....towed it to the burbs....got in a cab and went to my Uncle's in St. Paul. *SLEEP*

CUTS, SCRAPES, AND SCRATCHES TOUR

Marquette, MI  (Upfront & Co.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We woke up and headed to Third St. Bagel....all the girls in that joint are rad and make a mean bagel. Then we set off for WUPX to hang out and "co-host" with DJ Crank. Well we weren't exactly supposed to co-host, but I seduced the Radio X GM.......
We played a bunch of our favorite songs from Daft Punk, OK GO, Luke Temple, Spoon, My Morning Jacket, and I found a mysterious cut :(
Thanks for letting us raid your cd closet all day!
The show that night was a lot more fun cuz a bunch of familiar faces were there...Alice, Esther, Heather, Lea and some others. It was ALSO a lot more fun cuz we picked up some "Gordon's" and watched Panda get all stir crazy before the show.....
Thanks to everyone who came out...we had a good time at Amanda's after the show and we'll see you next year
CUTS, SCRAPES, AND SCRATCHES TOUR
MARQUETTE, MI (Upfront & Co.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm feeling better!!!!!

The drive to MI from Chicago was a pretty one.....it was destined to be a good day cuz Pat won a free bag of chips on his sandwich!

We got to the club at 6pm, loaded everything in, and checked into the hotel for some showers....

We failed to get pics of the show, but it was fun seeing Katt, Kate, Amanda, Emily, "the twins", Nicole, Kalita. and everyone else our first night back...Some of you may know already that Zac's a pretty heavy sleep walker. Sometimes we awake to the sound of a stumbling lampshade or dropped glass only to find THIS!

It's strange though. Every time this happens K SWEARS you're never supposed to wake up a sleep walker, so he just takes a ton of pictures from his cell phone...

Apparently Zac also whizzes batteries at K's throat while he's sleeping. weird.

Got our bruise for the day.....

CUTS, SCRAPES, AND SCRATCHES TOUR

Chicago, IL  (Martyr's)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We got into town a little early and picked up some albums at Reckless Records on Broadway. (Pet Shop Boys, New Order LIVE BBC, and The National)
We stopped by Fearless Radio to see our friends Kris and Rocco....you can download the hour-long interview here: http://www.podcastfearless.com/nmb/index.php?page=2 *just scroll down to 9-16-08*
When we got to Martyr's later that night we had NO idea what was about to happen. We've all been a little disappointed lately with the lack of Cuts, Scrapes, and Scratches at our shows. We feel like we've been letting you down. Often has it been said, "It's darkest just before the dawn," and what a bright sun we were to find on this fated night!!!!!
But first I'd like to let you know the show was a fun Tuesday night in Chicago. The sound was good and the people were all cool. Our friends Jen, David, Nicole, and Tea all came out....unfortunately K's number one fan, Jordan, couldn't make it :(
K was trying to show them a picture on his cell phone....the joke to be made here is WAY too obvious so I'll refrain...
And now good people of the blog.....the moment we've all been waiting for....the NUMBER one cut(s) of the tour thus far...as if Jupiter himself had sent winged Mercury to summon this Brooklyn born girl....we could almost hear the glorious trumpets sounding as she slowly walked through this hall of music....I present you: Lynn.
She ran a half marathon in what looks like an aluminum sports bra ......
Someone get this girl a medal......(and some neosporin)
