Listening Parties

Hi!

So just to catch up, we had a show at Maxwell's in the promise land (NJ) and so many great people traversed the Hudson (and the parkway) to come hang out. We had a Super Radtastic time, but no pics to show for it :(

Then we had a Listening Party for the new album at The Delancey:

We love the rooftop, but we have to admit, the Delancey was prrrrrrrreeeeeeeetty ill-equipped for the occasion. The guy who BBQs didn't show up and they only had ONE speaker to play the record with. (wtf?) So all these beautiful people were hanging out, listening to ONE side of the album, and trying to stave off their hunger with a bag of Twizzlers our friend Mara brought.

Mara & Stefani
It's amazing that any of you are still on speaking terms with us, (above company excluded) but I must say it was really great to see you. We also met a lot of new friends that night and wound up at No Malice Palace for a private dance party, and apparently a severe ass spanking from Aaron Zimmer....

Meredith, Mandy, Carrie, & Amy

Paula, (duh), & Liz

so we STILL had fun despite the Delancey's short-comings.

So much so, in fact, we decided to do it again! This time at Piano's....

We had DJ Fleetweek come out and take care of the music and this time we had BOTH sides of the album playing! The engineers on the record Chris Ribando and Roy Hendricks came out so we got to have a few drinks and pat them on the back. It was Chris Olsen's birthday, but he and Zac had to split kinda early to play with Chappo, so Pat, K , and I were the only ones to receive this amazing gift from our friend Phoenix. She's a fire eater and she totally HAND-MADE us our very own "Flaming Arrow" in honor of our new single. The thing looks like the most stylish Native-American War Hero EVER decided to get down with some new weapons for the fall season. This pic doesn't do it justice. (Kinda looks like a giant S'More)
I was yelling at her to get in the pic so we wanted to take another one. Then we remembered Piano's had to shut down for one night last week due to a fire, sooooo we decided to leave it at that. (by the way, Phoenix ALSO gave me a pair of Drum Sticks that can light on fire. I'm totally gonna hospitalize myself)

Many thanks to all who came out and we'll see you again on the 25th. Music Hall of Williamsburgh!

Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival

Here's us being featured on TimeoutNY.com for the Brooklyn Electronic Music Fest thing.
So this is the view that K misses out of when Dave dances to Prince!

Charlotte & Chapel Hill, NORTH CAROLINA!

(yes, we're still catching up)

The Evening Muse (May 22)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As most of you already know, we LOVE Charlotte, NC. Our friends, The Kosters, always put us up at The Rock 'N' Roll Hotel and this night was a special going away party for local celebrity JOHNNY!
We drove the 8 hours straight from NYC and celebrated with a beast of another nature....GRANT'S?!?!?
This was not the whiskey we all know and love, "Kentucky Gentlman" or "American Heritage".....by the time of show, this bizarre bottle of brown left K feeling confused and disoriented :(
...and no. That last adjective was NOT a racist joke. However, I feel like this next pic might be, PAT!
We had a lot of fun with our old friends and even met some new ones....
Pat liked this guy's shoes....Chek out his tatoo...the Circle of Fifths!
Wish we had more pics, but we ended up at Sanctuary and the rest of the night is a blur....i do remember Christen Pendleton coming out (always nice to see her), Johnny's long embraces, and some late night eggs & burritos at the R'n'R Hotel. Thanks Charlotte!
Jack Sprat's Cafe (May 23)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We have like ZERO pics from Jack Sprat's but I can tell you we played with Delta Dawn, friends of our friend Courtney, and we had a great time meeting this guy who can't spell pride without O-H-I-O...

Special thanks to Nick Stroud for having us down.....see you soon

Almost Home

SC to Philly
~~~~~~~~
I drove the rest of the way home while everyone else dreamt about a magical land filled with popcorn and sombreros. It was raining a lot (which is how I knew we were getting close to NYC. WTF is up with this summer?!?!).
Before going home we made a quick early morning stop to my cousin's house in Philadelphia. I called up Nick on the phone at 7:30am to let him know we're coming; and he proceeded to make a feast of eggs. When we got there I decided to wake up my baby cousins...poor Emma was more than slightly confused at the site of me in her bed...I asked her what she's doing and she just stared at me and said, "Dreaming."
Emma
I asked, "What are you dreaming about?" She replied, "Nick. We were playing." That's her older brother...
Nick
And if yer ever looking for conversation, THIS is the guy to call...he'll go on forever about ANY topic you like...it's hilarious! I made Emma and Nick go out to the van (the guys were still sleeping) to wake them up....Zac was 3/4ths legally dead at this point so we just let him stay in the driveway, but K and Pat came up for some breakfast and quality family time.
After a quick shower I like to eat breakfast in my superman briefs...guess that's weird??
They got over it....
If yer wondering who could possibly make such a perfect scramble....
It's THIS guy right here...
Coincidentally, Nick is also the guy who takes care of the Blaze when she's sick...He actually put a brand new set of brakes on her just for this Florida trip. It takes an oil change just getting her down to MILLEVOI BROS in Philly, but definitely worth the trip ;)
After awhile we noticed Emma was gone, but reappeared soon after... dressed to impress....
I think she likes Pat....so I had to break it to her that Pat ONLY likes girls with bows in their hair...sorry Emma :(
BOOSH!
I was trying to "let her down easy" so I had to say, he ONLY dates girls that can make stuff. What grown ups call "artists." She grabbed him by the hand and pointed out her latest work...
BLAM!
We were stumped. She won. Pat gave her his digits....
(We later found out, that seemingly leprechaun-like picture was actually a portrait of her Dad)
Nice work Emma!
P.S. You can see some of these kids in action on this video:
1,250 Miles Back Home
So after lunch we started our drive back home.  We stopped at a local SUBWAY for the usual $5 footlong and took in the Florida Suburb Sights.....
Ah.  That was enough....
We loved the billboard's phone number "866-VAS-TIME"
Makes for a catchy phrase.  Like the commercial would be a man who just got his GF pregnant for the 6th time...camera zooms in...he rolls over in bed...they both look at each other...while nodding their heads they simultaneously say, "It's Vas-Time" as a smile lights their faces.  Cut away to the Vasectomy doctor in the office...blah blah blah...
Soon thereafter, K got sleepy and rocked his signature Park Bench Style Blanket...
9 times out of 10 you will find K sleeping in the Blaze adorned with a variety of newspapers.  This meant we had to make a pit stop and get him some kind of gross energy drink or something.  We were surprised to find out that in Florida, the whole No Shirt, No Service rule doesn't apply...
We took bets on what K would walk out of there with...Monster...Red Bull.....Sparks....but he totally surprised us with a Pepsi Max for Men.
Now Pat was out $5......this meant K had to deal with one of his favorite "games."  It's called, "The Lock-The-Door-And-When-K-Takes-Out-His-Key-To-Unlock-The Door-I-Lock-It-Again-But-He-Doesn't-See-Me-Doing-It-So-He-Tries-To-Unlock-The-Door-Again-Thinking-He-Turned-The-Key-The-Wrong-Way-Until-After-3-Tries-He-Realizes-I-Keep-Locking-The-Door Game."
Back on the road and we thought of our trusty computer, Cecil, as we passed exit 350...
Now the sun's starting to set....
It's one of those picturesque landscapes.  Driving down the open road at dusk with green grass and tall trees on either side of you...the wind is flying through your hair  (or over your head)....the smell of nature filling your nostrils as you take a deep breath.....
...then some huge insect smacks into your windshield and explodes.  Time to pull over at the next gas station to clean this lifeless blood off our glass.....can barely see!
While we stopped K thought it a good idea to buy a little snack.  Namely this Pickle in a Bag thing....
...that idea turned out to be a bad one.  But couldn't ANY ONE OF US have told him that??  Seriously.  It's gross.  COME'on K.
Zac took the wheel while Pat and Cecil had a little "screening" party.  (We threw some OG Rap on in the blaze and eventually put a Dew-Rag on Cecil.)
 K's daughter, Sola, loves presents from the road so as we passed through South Carolina what better place to stop then....
South of the Border!
Anyone who's driven through South Carolina has at SOME point in their life been here.  It's the chochki MECCA of the U.S.  We've been hearing SOOOOOO much about all the parties, hot girls, spontaneous nudity, excessive drinking, and gambling that goes on at South of the Border that we decided to cut loose and get a little crazy.  It's basically an east coast Las Vegas!
...or at least it was in 1954.
Guess sunday nights at 4am isn't the best time to hang  :(
Thanks for nothing.
